Two women, soon followed by a man, walk across Kingston Bridge towards Hampton Wick on a foggy evening.
Two young women, perhaps on their way home from Kingston University or their work place in Kingston, cross the Thames using Kingston Bridge towards Hampton Wick. Deep in conversation, they are shortly followed by a lone gentleman. Kingston upon Thames is a popular shopping centre. Its ancient market place and the Rose Theatre are situated nearby. Riverside properties such as Charter Quay are highly sought after. Steeped in history, Kingston is situated close to Hampton Court Palace and was heavily bombed during the Second World War as the old British Aerospace factory made an excellent target for the enemy. Much of the original town was destroyed but you can still get a flavour of it by viewing the original tudor stair case in the Druid's Head public house featured in Jerome K Jerome's Three Men in a Boat. On the Hampton Wick side, you find two Royal Parks, Bushy and Home Park which adjoins Hampton Court Palace and hosts the Hampton Court Flower show annually. Cardinal Wolsey is said to have lived in Hampton Wick's Lower Teddington Road.
