View WSW of Kintraw Bronze Age alignment, Loch Craignish, Scotland, UK, from viewing platform through marker cairn & standing stone to Paps of Jura.

View WSW of Kintraw, Loch Craignish, Mid Argyll, Scotland, UK, showing the Bronze Age alignment from a viewing platform through a marker cairn & standing stone to the midwinter solstice sunset among the Paps of Jura (23 miles away) around 1800BC. Initial sightings were taken from the artificial platform to the sun setting behind the peak of Beinn Shiantaidh (rear L) on Jura then flashing into view again in the notch formed with Beinn a'Chaolais. The line was marked by a pole & cairn (the socket was found in the cairn during excavations 1959-60) & the standing stone. Euan MacKie uncovered the platform & boulder notch in 1970-71. Initial sightings had to be taken from the hillside to see over the intervening ridge.
