MEDITERRANEAN SEA (Oct. 3, 2014) Ship’s Serviceman 2nd Class Willie Tolon tightens his self-contained breathing apparatus mask during a general quarters (GQ) drill on the Arleigh Burke-class, guided-missile destroyer USS Mitscher (DDG 57). GQ’s drills are training scenarios that allow the crew to increase efficiency of maintaining the ship in a timely manner in the event damage is taken. Mitscher, homeported in Norfolk, Va., is conducting naval operations in the 6th Fleet area of operations in support of national security interests in Europe.
