He was ordainedDeacon and received into full membership in the Southern Illinois Con-ference in 1894 and was ordained elder in 1897. He served the followingpastorates: Waterloo, Illinois, 1892-95; Marissa, 1896-97; Coulterville andTilden, 1898-99; Eldorado, 1900-01; Oblong, 1902-03; Carlyle, 1904-05. Hewas transferred to the Northwest Kansas Conference and served pastoratesas follows: Jewell City, 1906-07; Osborne, 1908-10; Muskogee, Oklahoma,1911-12. He served also in the Iowa Conference as pastor at Albia, 1913-14,and at Keokuk. 1925 METHODIST EPISCOPAL CHURCH 115 Doctor Neils ministry in all these places was characterized by evange-listic passion. Revivals foUovi^ed his ministry in these several pastoratesand in various places church buildings were erected. Even after he hadturned aside from the pastorate to serve the church in other relations hispassion for spiritual things was still shown in unremitting activity as apersonal worker and in his constant efforts to turn young lives into definitelines of Christian service. Not less than 43 ministers, missionaries, andChristian workers in other fields were directed into these lines of Christianservice through his efforts. Doctor Neil accepted work with the Educational Jubilee in 1918 andwas transferred to membership in the Northeast Ohio Conference. For atime he served as Financial Secretary of Mt. Union College. In 1919 heentered the employ of the Joint Centenary Committee. With
