When it later became a museum (now closed), her residence was named Hatchet Hall because the formidable women was famous for physically attacking taverns with a hatchet during her anti-alcohol campaign. Known as Mother Nation and officially spelling her first name as Carry, she made the home a boarding house and school and lived there prior to her death in 1911.
