The14th century font font inside st Mary The Virgin church, Rolvenden, Kent, England

This is an hexagonal heraldic font which dates back to the 14th century but has an 18th century cover. This shape is unusual in Kent, England. It is decorated in the 'windowed' style. Emblazoned on the bowl are the arms of Guildeforde and Culpepper. On two sides of the bowl are hasps for securing the cover - needed to stop witches and others believed to have magic powers from stealing the holy water.
