Air Force Master Sgt. Ward Mikami, Outside the Wire Pre-deployment Training student, cleans an M4 carbine firing pin after learning and executing tactics at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey, Feb. 2, 2023. This tactics training allows students to practice the “shoot, move, communicate” technique to prepare students for high risk scenarios they may encounter while deployed. OTW places students in realistic and strenuous training scenarios used to teach skills such as weapons control, combative techniques, communications, mounted and dismounted movements and land navigation.
