A railroad dump car on the tracks at the BNSF train yard, in the town of Troy, Montana Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway was formed in 1996, when the Burlington Northern Railroad acquired the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway, and was renamed the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway, which is now the BNSF. BNSF is the largest freight railroad network in North America.
