Birmingham Town Hall pictured in the year of it's opening, 1834. Birmingham Town Hall is seen as the first significant work of the 19th century revival of Roman architecture. The design being based on the proportions of the Temple of Castor and Pollux in the Roman Forum. Construction began in 1832 under the architects Joseph Hansom (1803-1882) and Edward Welch (1806-1868).
