Affects of forest types on climate. Computer artwork showing how the three forest types (tropical, temperate and boreal) have warming and cooling affects on the climate. All three types of forest contribute to cooling by absorbing carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere and releasing water vapour. Darker boreal forests can also contribute to warming as they are often darker than their surroundings and so absorb the Sun's energy.
