Pieattended the public schools and high schoolof Danbury. In 1876 he entered the employof the Danbury Ne^ws and has continued onthat paper, with slight intermission, until thepresent time. In 1900 he went to Dayton,Ohio, as advertising manager of the Na-tional Cash Register Company. After oneseason in that capacity he returned to Dan-bury and resumed a position as superintend-ent with the. Xcivs. and at the same time es-tablished the Dobbs Advertising Agency,which he has built up to a high standard inthe business world, especially in the generalnc\vs]-»apcr advertising field. He attends to. e-^ Lems Hjifoncdi Pub Co. CONNECTICUT 1707 the advertising- of nearly all the most promi-nent local merchants, also of the famous Dan-bury Fair, and has a part in nearly all thepublicity for which Danbury is noted. He isvice-president and treasurer of the DanburySquare Rox Company. He is a director ofthe Danbury Business Mens Association andchairman of its publicity committee, belongsto all the Masonic bgdies of Danbury and toPyramid Temple, Mystic Shrine, of Bridge-port. He is an Elk and a member of theRoval Arcanimi, and a member of the Dan-bury Club. He is a Methodist, and in poli-tics a Republican. He married, April 19, 1882,Katherine M., daughter of Harris and Sarah(Keeler) Eames at West Haven, Connecti-cut.
