Gnarled and wizened sessile oak trees overhanging a quarry path through Coed Dinorwig sessile oak woods above Llyn Padarn. One of many paths through the oak woods near the Vivian Quarry, constructed to give easy access to and from the slate quarries for workers who walked in from surrounding vilages. Now managed as part of the Vivian Quarry Trails. Coed Dinorwig is an area of impressive ancient woodland situated on a south west facing, rocky and well drained hillside overlooking Llyn Padarn. The oak trees are stunted due to poor soil and adverse weather conditions. Although fenced from sheep wild goats roam the woods freely. )ct 94
