( cm), Glass, Bakewell, Pears and Company (1836–1882), One of the earliest patterns used in the Pittsburgh area, “Argus,” also known as “Thumbprint,” is a deliberate imitation of cut glass. The concave oval facets create a highly reflective surface and a dramatic optical effect
