As a tree it de-velops a narrow top with upright and inclinedbranches, and its long narrow pendent leavesmake it easily distinguishable. Comparativelyrare and local in the east it is very abundantin the northern and western interior portionsof the continent, covering the river banks andadjoining low-lands with great thickets of itsllexible crowded stems.
