Fig. 117.—To show the attenuated outer primaries. The chief character in this genus is the attenuated outer primaries o£ the males. The bill is short, the width at the base being almost equal to the length o£ the exposed culmen. The wing is somewhat pointed, the second and third primaries longest and subequal, the first shorter than the fifth but much larger than the sixth. The tail is square at the tip and nearly three-tenths the length of the wing. The tarsus is about equal in length to the middle toe and claw. Coloration: male and female entirely different.
