WIESBADEN, Germany – Army General Curtis Scaparrotti (center), Commander of European Command and Supreme Allied Commander for NATO, sits down with top military officials from 28 European nations to discuss counterterrorism actions as well as methods of defeating violent extremist organizations within Europe during the 2017 Chief of Defense (CHOD) Conference located at Wiesbaden, Germany on April 26, 2017. Dozens of senior leaders from NATO and EU joined in the conference to better determine how to counter Violent Extremist Organizations in Europe. United States European Command hosted this CHOD conference focusing on five areas: developing a shared understanding of the threat; strengthening partnerships; opening new avenues for information sharing; identifying opportunities to enhance the military network; building better connectivity between our military network, European intelligence, and law enforcement agencies.
