Cucumis sativus, Persian cucumber, family Cucurbitaceae, cultivated vine with angular leaves, small yellow flowers and dark green fruits thin skinned like English cucumber but narrower and shorter than 20 cm and slightly bumby skin, eaten without removing skin, flesh nearly white, crunchy, slightly sweet and juicy, often consumed chopped mixed with yoghurt, or used in salsa and creamy dressings.
