Bryn yr Hen Bobl Neolithic burial chamber, Anglesey, Wales, UK: view SSE of the kidney-shaped cairn containing a closed megalithic chamber facing E into a forecourt (L). An unusual long narrow terrace runs S from the S side horn of the cairn (rear). The chamber was closed by a tall slab (now broken) with two natural perforations. Finds from C20th excavations include human remains, pottery, stone axes & a hone, flint tools, animal bones, shells & charcoal. The site - Hill of the Old People - is on private land within Plas Newydd Park owned by the Marquess of Anglesey. This photograph was taken, with permission, in April 2006.
