It is necessary to air the beds slightly from the start, even in cool weather ; and to give more and more air as the plants increase in size and as the season advances. There ought to be a thermometer kept in the hot bed, and the day heat not allowed to get above 70 degrees. The night heat ought not to fall below 50 degrees. Shutters, mats, carpets or litter will make it easy to keep young plants warm at night.
