Gommata, or syphilomata, varyfrom the size of a hemp-seed tothat of a large pea, are rounded,smooth, sometimes glossy, of ayellow color, and have a tendencyto break down, and leave ulcers^ whose bases are gray. Gommata Xt^VlASS^^^ are single or multiple, and there-suiting ulceration, when deep, may give rise to cartilagenouslesions which generally follow those of the mucous membrane. Laryngoscopical Appearances.—In ordinary superficiallaryngeal syphilis or erythema, there exists much the samelaryngoscopic appearances as in catarrhal laryngitis.
