The top of its graceful toweris ornamented with a grille in the form of a gridiron. The chiefpoints of interest in the interior are some of the paintings and theorgan-loft (16th cent.). — Near Nogent stood the abbey of Paraclet,founded in 1123 by the celebrated Abelard, who was interred herealong with Heloise; the empty vault is all that remains. We now cross the Seine and ascend its valley to Troyes. 741/2 is a village with the modern chateau of M. Jean Ca-simir Perier, which we see to the right before reaching the the neighbourhood is a stalactite cavern IV4 M. long. 80 M.
