BrotherMerrill has always taken an active partin Church work,having filled the follow- ing positions of trust and honor: Presi-dent of the Deacons quorum, presidentof the Y. M. M. I. A., teacher, assistantsuperintendent, and superintendent ofthe Richmond Sunday school, etc. From1881 to 1883, Elder Merrill performedsuccessful missionary work in theSouthern States, and presided over theWest Tennessee conference.
