The belthas therefore two motions:a slow forward motion, anda rapid vibratory motion, theeffects of which will be ex-plained later. The endless travellingbelt is kept in position belowby the three fixed rollersb), c, b), of which c serves as a tightener, and in part as a regu-lator of the travel of the broad belt in keeping it straight on theshaking frame above.
