Marines from the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit prepare to load their KLR 250-D8 motorcycles into a CH-46E Sea Knight helicopter on the flight deck of the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) during flight operations in the Mediterranean Sea on April 18, 2005. The motorcycles allow the Marines an alternative means of transporting messages, documents, or light cargo and conducting reconnaissance in the field. Kearsarge and the embarked 26th MEU are on a regularly scheduled deployment in support of the war on terror.
