French rural post offices and services are under threat from closures and reduced services. The yellow La Poste vans have been an integral part of rural life for many is calimed that 90% of French residents live less than 5km from a post box and that the French postal system is the most extensive in Europe. However many rural post offices are now being replaced by agencies - La Poste Agence- which offer a reduced service with reduced hours.
