A bathroom at Trinity Hotel. An annex of Kerala’s oldest and most famous boutique hotel, the Malabar House, Trinity stretches over the second floor of the former Dutch East India Company headquarters, which was extensively modified in the 1970’s (the VoC sign is still on the gate). Contemporary minimalism and clean lines are offset with quirky Indian antiques and art work- old toy cars, hand operated fans, paintings by MF Hussain. Settled by the Moors, Portuguese, Dutch, Jewish, Chinese, Arab and British, the cosmopolitan town of Fort Cochin is one of south India's premium tourist destinations. A string of colonial era mansions being transformed into boutique hotels is now reinventing the town’s lodging scene.
