An underwater photographer attempts to capture the fragile beauty of several large stalks of soft coral (Dendronephthya sp.). This octocoral swells with water to expand, turning it into the pastel-colored arboreal looking organism seen here. Once expanded, the animal extends into the current to feed, gathering nutrients from the water.
