Sweet Chalybeate Springs are nine miles from Alleghany Station by stage. They, also, were known early in the century. The waters are strongly 28 impregnated with iron and are among the most valuable chalybeate springsin the world. The Alleghany.— This is one of the new, but one of the most interest-ing and attractive, resorts on the line of the road. The hotel stands on a plateau nearly2,000 feet abovethe sea and 100feet above theriver. This em-inence rises ab-ruptly out of thevalley, and thehotel overlooksthe town of Go-shen. ElliottsKnob is close athand, and theview of valleys,rolling moun-tains and tower-ing peaks is oneof the most mag-nificent in Vir-ginia. There isno hotel of itssize more admirably constructed or better equipped for the comfort ofthe tourist. The building, which was recently completed, is
