He has taken an active part in the campaigns for the Repub-lican party for the past twenty-five years, especially for Garfield in 1880, Blaine in[884. and also during: the campaign for McKhuey in 1896. During Kin- impaign he served as Oder of Staff under Major-General Ben In. Gfr^jeJAouSes. 453 i&93 he nas elected Alderman and also served as Chairman of the Finance Com-mittee in the City of Jacksonville. Illinois, but declined to allow his name to bepresented at the convention for the Republican nomination for Major of thatcity tiro years later. He was a delegate to the convention that nominated theHon. Richard Yates by acclamation as Judge of the County Court. He hastaken an active part in Illinois politics for the past twenty years. SecretaryFieldhouse was a delegate to the Conference on Trusts held in Chicago, Sep-tember 13-16, 1899. and selected to serve as a member of the Coinmhttee onResolutions.
