It is our purpose to give the record of township officersonly since the organization of Kinderhook, though intracing the first settlement and following the course ofemigration it will be necessary to recall an earlier date,when its neighbor, Ovid, claimed the territory it nowcovers. The oldest living resident of the township isGeorge Tripp, who may be regarded, if not absolutely thefirst settler, as among the first who came and made a per-manent location here. He left his home in Otsego Co., N. Y.,in 1835 and located in Branch County, purchasing 190 m^ ^miMs^g:.
