JOHNS, HAST ALTO ON A January 21, 1906, St. Johns Lutheran congregation was for-mally organized, with these charter members: Mr. and H. Yon, Mr. and Mrs. Krider, Mr. and Mrs. Bossert, Mrs. Reed, Mrs. Howland, Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Orner, , Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Turner, Mrs. Braucher, Mrs. , Mary, Margaret and Rose Howland, Jessie Carles, EthelEvans, Elsie Johnson, Mary Orner. The first council was composed of the following men: W. , William Reed. F. E. Hare. W. H. Bossert; G. H. Krider,first treasurer; J. C. Turner, first W. H. YON, First Elder of St. Johns, East Altoona, MRS. \Y. H. YON,Primary Superintendent since organiza-tion of Sunday School, St. Johns,East Altoona. Mr. Charles Foutz was elected second Sunday school super-intendent, in 1905. Mr. \Y. H. Yon was elected superintendentof Sunday school in J 907. A Christian Endeavor Society wasorganized January 29, 1906, with Mr. Charles Foutz at firstpresident. Pastor Wieand and wife donated a beautiful com-munion set and pulpit to the church. Mrs. \Y. H. Yon gave thebread tray. The mortgage was burned in January, 1910. Thenote-burning was consummated in a special service led by thepastor. Rev. Wieand preached his last sermon July 3, 1910. The 427 NORTHEAST CONFERENCE congregation, still a mission, decided to call Rev. C. D. Russellto be their pastor, July 18, 1910. Rev. Russe
