Mr. Blessner, Musical Director at St. Marys in the 40s, hadit lithographed for use on the cover of some waltzes which he composed and had published in 1845. On thetitle page of the music, in addition to the Stage Coach Picture, was printed: The Flowers of the South. C, by Gustave Madame Clement was the first French teacher at , and her little daughter Eleanor accompanied herto St. Marys and became first a pupil and then a teacherhere. Later on she established a very successful girlsschool at Germantown (Philadelphia), Pa. At her deathshe left St. Marys a $5,000 fund to establish a scholarshipin honor of her mother, and also made St. Marys the residu-ary legatee of her estate. From this bequest of $35,000,the funds were derived for the building of Clement Hall,which was named in Miss Clements honor.
