John Russell, (1792 – 1878), known as Lord John Russell before 1861, was a leading Whig and Liberal politician who introduced the 1832 Reform Act, or Representation of the People Act 1832. It was an Act of Parliament that introduced wide-ranging changes to the electoral system of England and Wales.
