The " Colliers " may attack the healthy as well as the unhealthy plants, but the strong growth which is run on by previous good cultivation of the ground, and also the apphcation of a little liquid manure if desirable, will keep the plant in heart with a plentiful flow of sap, and thus it will suffer much less from attack than the weakly, stunted growths that have no power to replace the juices which the Aphides are constantly sucking out ot them.
