Women are seen seated on top of a water tanker truck near Vihigaon village, Shahapur taluka of Thane district on the outskirts of Mumbai. Every year during the summer months, many villages in Shahapur taluka of Thane district face acute shortage of water as well gets dried up. According to the villagers, inspite of Vaitarna river barely few kilometers away from the village, water from the river is diverted for the use in Mumbai city and thus depriving the villagers of water during the summer season every year.
