GEORGE The legal profession at one time,earlier in the towns history, had noless than seven representatives, and itis an eloquent commentary upon thepeacefulness of the present genera-tion that but two are now known tothe town. Irving True, son of HenryClinton and Elinor Lamb (Hinkson)George, was born in Canaan, N. H.,June 27, 1854. There he attended thelocal school and the Union Academy,. also Tilton Seminary and KimballUnion Academy at Meriden, where hefitted for Dartmouth. He then entered the office of thelate John Y. IMugridge of Concord,and studied law with him, and withGeorge W. ]\[urray at Canaan, andwas admitted to the bar at Plymouth, Nevoinarlcet on the Lcunprey 105 at the November term, 1877. TheMay following he moved to Newmar-ket, which has since been his life has largely been devoted tothe practice of his profession, but hetakes a most active interest in schoolaffairs and has been a member of theschool board, here and in his nativetown, over nine years.
