Tipaza, or Tipasa, was an ancient Phoenician trading post conquered by Rome in 2BC to become one of its most strategic bases in Africa. Today, Tipaza/Tipasa Archaeological Park preserves mostly Roman, but also Phoenician, Byzantine and palaeochristian ruins, in Tipaza, Algeria.
