Gage, Governor of the State of California: Sir: The Commissioners to Manage Yosemite Valley and the MariposaBig Tree Grove have the honor to present the following report of theirmanagement for the years 1901 and 1902: GENERAL IMPROVEMENTS. Since the last report the chief addition to the permanent improve-ments of the Valley in the nature of buildings has been the constructionof a new barn, stables, granary, wagon shed, and corral, at an expenseof $1,500. This was necessitated by the increase of travel into theValley, calling for more room for the transportation companies. Thecontract for the building of these improvements was given to thesuperintendent of the stage company applying for the use of the same,so that in the construction the contractor had a personal
