Searching Google Image for these parameters turned up [1], which is labelled in its parent page [2] as the original 1380 illustration, and searching Tineye for that image turned up one more hit, at higher resolution, at [3]. This was saved to disk and uploaded directly per the PD-Art license position of WMF; though I'm not sure the blog provenance is enough to allow its use at Wikipedia, it very much appears to be a simple scan of a very old manuscript. I am still not satisfied with the cropped photo, as my original intent was to see whether it could be used to argue that snowmen are a religious observance in a forum debate. ;) Hopefully a larger photo without cropping of the text will turn up on the internet sooner or later, or maybe I'll eventually actually go in a good city library and find that book about snowman history, and the mission can be completed by deciphering and translating the text. 1380, I Unknown 344 Koninklijke Bibliotheek Book of Hours snowman illustration
