This insect will also attack hams, and occasionally causes serious loss. Treatment: exclude flies with netting, using 24-to-the-inch mesh. Cleanliness will render cheese factories less inviting to the flies. Hams and cheese stored in darkness are much less liable to infesta- tion. 75 Bacon beetle (Dermestes lar- d a r i u s ). A dark brownish beetle abont j\ inch long with yellowish band across the base of the wing covers. The larva is brown, hairy, about f inch long. Both.
