It would take many pages ofthe Manual merely to enumerate the different items ofthis imposing collection. The material collected by Jared Sparks, the first ofour Revolutionary writers and for many years the auth-ority on Washington, involved titanic labor extendingover many years. His Life of Washington contains12 volumes and includes nearly all of Washingtonspersonal correspondence a collection involving years ofpatient research and constant investigation. [364].
