We conducted our surveys and experiments at elevations between 500 m and 1000 m., at a site 10 km west of the Pacific Ocean in headwater brooks of the Mysovka River (Lat. 135°, Long. 41°). This river flows into the Tinfura River, a tributary of the Ol'ga Bay (Fig. 1). Climate is typical of the maritime Russian Far East,.
