PHILADELPHIA – 18-year-old Nigeria Jones, a student athlete for the Brentwood High School in Brentwood, New York, participates in the Marine Corps Battles Won Challenge during the Penn Relays at Penn Park at the University of Pennsylvania campus in Philadelphia, April 26, 2018. Marines partnered with and attended the 124th Penn Relays to foster positive relationships with student athletes and coaches and to educate the track and field community on opportunities within the Marine Corps. The Battles Won Challenge is a traveling obstacle course consisting of grip and strength bars, a cargo net climb, a rope climb, pull-ups, push-ups, sit-ups and a mental agility lab. This year, the Corps celebrates 100 years of women Marines, a milestone shown in the chance for female Marines to serve in any occupational specialty in the Corps, including all combat specialties.
