Through a sky crackling with ack ack fire, a Jap bomber (upper left) goes into its dive upon LST's moving in to land their men and armaments on Mindoro Island in the Philippines. The plane was shot out the sky by Coast Guard gunners on one of the LST's. Two of the tank landing ships were bombed and set afire by the enemy attackers.
