Sunrise over dew covered grasses on Roan Mountain in Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina, area, called Grassy Ridge, contains the longest bald in the Appalachian Mountains, at approximately seven miles in length. The Mountain also is home to the largest natural rhododendron garden in the world. Roan Mountain, straddling the border of North Carolina and Tennessee, is the high point in the Roan-Unaka Range with an elevation of 6,285 feet.
