This photograph was taken on 4 May 1968 from a special train, headed by 4472 Flying Scotsman" that ran non-stop from Edinburgh to Kings Cross. The train ran to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the first non-stop London - Edinburgh train. This was the return working, the northbound train having run on 1st May 1968, the actual anniversary date.
