Tiger-eye is a silicate mineral made of practically pure silica dioxide (SiO2). It is found in highly metamorphic rocks. It is a semi precious gemstone well known for it's silky, golden gloss (chatoyancy) and is often cut and polished into cabochons and trinkets. The polished surface here seen measures 85 x 62 mm.
