Lower wings pale brown. This fmgular Moth is very rarely met with; it has been taken inCoomhe-wood^ Surry^ and in Kent, but even in thofe places it is veryuncommon. It is diftinguiflied by the unufual form of the white markings on theupper wings, and particularly by the tuft or button which is fituatedin an upright pofition near the center of each; thofe tufts appear onlyfiightly feathered on the upper parts to the naked eye, but when oneof them is examined with a microfcope, or even common magnifier,it prefents the appearance of a bundle of fibres, inclofed within a thinmembrane; narrow at the bafe, encreafing in b
