RADIOFREQUENCY ABLATION
Illustration of the ablation of a tumor in the liver by radiofrequency ablation. Under ultrasound monitoring, the doctor inserts a fine electrode through the skin, into the centre of the tumor. The electrode is linked to a generator which provides an electrical current that produces heat and destroys the cancerous cells.
