Detroit, Michigan USA - 2 May 2016 - Public school teachers called in sick and picketed the Detroit Public Schools headquarters, refusing to work without being paid. The Michigan legislature has not provided the funding needed for the school system to operate after June 30. (Because most teachers are paid on a year-round basis, they have already done the work for which they would be paid during the summer.) The sick-out closed all but three of the city's 97 public schools. Credit: Jim West/Alamy Live News
